CATHOLIC PRAYERS
St. Catherine of Siena Novena
St. Catherine was a Dominican tertiary born in Siena, Italy and died in Rome at the age of thirty-three. Amazingly she was initially denied entrance into the Third Order but eventually, due to her desire to follow God’s will, became its principal glory. Our Lord communicated directly with St. Catherine during her ecstasies which were written down and are commonly known as the Dialogues. These events show us how enlightened she was in the knowledge of supernatural things. Her life was truly consecrated to the salvation of souls, to the good of her country and to the defense of the Holy See. It was through her efforts that the Papacy was restored to Rome. In recognition of her devotion to the interests of the Holy See, Pope Pius IX declared St. Catherine patroness with Sts. Peter and Paul of the Holy Roman Church. Once again we ask St. Catherine to restore the Church and the Papacy.
Novena Prayer
O admirable Saint Catherine, thou who didst merit to make of thy whole life the noblest holocaust, constantly inspiring thyself to a most ardent love for Jesus, the Lamb without blemish, and for His beloved Spouse the Church, whose rights thou didst strenuously affirm and support in troubled times, obtain, likewise, for us the grace not only to pass unscathed through the corruption of this world, but also to remain unshakably faithful to the Church, in word, in deed, in example, to see always, and to make others see, in the Holy Roman Catholic Church our anchor, as it were, in the storms of life, the beacon of light that points the way to the harbor of safety in the dark night of our times and of men’s souls. Obtain likewise the favors I request in this Novena, (Mention your intentions here) through thy powerful intercession. St. Catherine of Siena, pray for us.
